Complex is nailing it with his new releases. His latest track ‘Where We Came From’ adds power to his flame and it is one which many will relish.
A track all about his past, it grips with a nail-biting message which opens up the singer’s story transparently. He is speaking about his own experiences, and you can hear his emotion dripping. He often talks about his loved ones in the track too, and it touches, and many will be able to resonate with what he is saying proving the massive prevalence he has with his fans.
Not often a track which I would review this one, but I had to given its standout meaning. I also found the rapper refreshing to listen to as well. Furthermore, he has a knack for blending angelic vocals with killer rap bars, and it makes for an omnipotent mixture.
Influenced by some of the biggest names, he still manages to find his own way to the party. He hates the status quo of music and therefore ensures he does what is right in his eyes. Musically, you will probably not find anything else similar, but yet cleverly he creates a contemporary feel while adding in nostalgic hooks for good measure.
My only fault is that I would have liked to have a little more backing melodies in places. I never understand why some artists do not leverage the backing vocal. It can make a track even more profound, and a bit more of that here could have added even more prowess. Nevertheless, it is unique, and it provides plenty of reminiscences taking us back to not only Complex’s past but our past also.
