I discovered Julia Thomsen’s music a few years ago, and when I heard she was releasing “Amour” on June 20th, I knew I had to listen the moment it dropped. As someone who grew up playing piano myself, I’m always drawn to composers who can make the instrument feel both intimate and powerful at the same time.
“Amour” does exactly that. The opening piano passages feel like someone whispering a secret, but then the strings come in and suddenly you’re wrapped in this warm, comforting blanket of sound. I found myself playing it on repeat during my morning coffee routine, and it completely changed the mood of my day.

What I love most about Julia’s work is how she doesn’t try to overcomplicate things. The melodies in “Amour” are simple enough that you find yourself humming them hours later, but there’s something sophisticated happening underneath that keeps pulling me back in. It reminds me of those perfect summer evenings when everything feels possible.
