Le Fil is the London pop sensation which needs little preamble. He has taken his position in the music industry, and he is leveraging his signature sound with each new release providing something fresh.
His latest release is ‘Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is’, and I have been enjoying it ever since I hit play. It carries his message through with little vagueness, and the meaning is visible for all to witness. He dislikes the ‘Say One Thing, Does Another’ mentality which many people, including his lover embraces. He gets his point across well with each vocal line cementing his storyline even deeper.
It was a while back now when I checked out his previous release ‘Undercover Lover’, and I knew then that he was an artist who is catapulting himself quickly out of the underground scene. This track reaffirms my intuition because it comes with a bang which many artists lack in recent times. Furthermore, it has the feel-good qualities of yesteryear but also stays authentic and modern to the 2020 music fuss. However, is it the most unique track I have heard in my life? Probably not. There is a lot of influences poking out of it, and Le Fil has not been shy to drop hints from other artists with his influences popping out regularly.
Nevertheless, it is a catchy and upbeat pop record, and it does get the hips moving with its steady rhythm and memorable melody lines. The highlight is the chorus with the melody sinking deep into the soul, and it leaves a long-lasting indent making you want to come back regularly.
