The band’s singer, Damian Fowler, wrote this one for a friend who was convinced everything was crumbling around her. Bad breakup, bad timing, bad everything. She couldn’t see past the wreckage. Fowler, who grew up in Yorkshire before landing in New York, wanted to meet her where she was instead of trying to talk her out of how she felt.

Bebbo’s electric guitar enters carefully, threading these delicate patterns through the mix. Jane Kittredge’s violin shows up and adds weight to the chorus, this folk sadness that lingers. The harmonies Fowler added during recording feel like someone finally showed up to help carry the load.
Lyrically, it’s bleak in all the right ways. God checked out, the mockingbird went silent, the sky’s burning. It has that nursery rhyme quality but twisted, like childhood comfort turned inside out. The clever part is how the chorus reframes everything. What if the world ending isn’t the worst thing? What if something better comes from the wreckage?
