Von Venn just dropped “Only In The Night” and I’m telling you right now, this Dublin indie band has created something absolutely incredible. Gary Cox and his bandmates have delivered a track that’s going to be stuck in your head for weeks.
From the very first note, that guitar riff grabs you and refuses to let go. It’s one of those hooks that makes you immediately turn up the volume. Then the rhythm section kicks in with this smooth, hypnotic groove that you can just get completely lost in. Gary’s vocals have this dreamy, floating quality that works perfectly with the lush female harmonies weaving through the mix. When that chorus hits, it’s pure magic.
But what really makes this song special is how real it gets emotionally. “Only In The Night” tackles something we’ve all been through but rarely talk about honestly: when you have to end a good relationship because your lives are heading in different directions. Gary nails it when he describes making “the difficult decision to leave” without any big fight or drama, just that heartbreaking moment when you both realize it’s over.
The line about letting go being “better than being half hearted about the future” hit me right in the chest. But then he gets to that gut punch about those dark nights when you’re wondering what could have been if you’d found the courage to stay. That’s the kind of raw honesty that makes great songwriting.
Von Venn has been making serious waves in Dublin’s music scene, and after hearing “Only In The Night,” it’s obvious why. They’ve got this perfect balance of catchy melodies and lyrics that actually mean something. This is the lead single from their upcoming album “Forgetting the Fall,” and if this track is any indication, we’re in for something special.
“Only In The Night” is available right now on all streaming platforms, and you absolutely need to check this out. Trust me, this is the kind of song that’s going to define your summer playlist. Von Venn is doing something really special here, and this track proves they’re ready for much bigger things.
