It appears that Marsha Swanson is one of those artists whose work improves with each new release; this is the case with her newest single, ‘Not You’. After listening to and reviewing several of Swanson’s earlier releases, I take great pleasure in the fact that she exudes an air of maturity while retaining a youthful quality, and I believe it is one of the primary draws that keeps pulling me back.
I also really enjoy the way that she fastens a non-traditional folk sound and positions it within a pop environment that is different from what you expect to hear on the charts, but still it sounds enormously relevant and captivating. Also, Marsha exudes a huge amount of passion, which not only lends credence to the words she says but also makes it clear that she is writing from the bottom of her heart.
