JOSHUI is a London rapper who is catapulting himself across the music industry with his latest offering ‘Ends’. It is a grime anthem which is pleasing many across the Hip Hop community, including myself.
I love the direction he is taking with his sound. He is positioning himself as a name to keep an eye on, and his music is proving his quality. Still relatively young, the MC sounds like he has decades of experience under his belt. Vocally, he delivers a rap which sounds anything but amateur. There is no room for dissonance, and JOSHUi delivers a performance which stays true to his routes.
He likes to speak about the reality of life. He never minces his words and what he describes is what you get. His bio states he combines a DIY attitude with a deep founding belief system, and his new track mirrors his personal statement. ‘Ends’ is all about everything appearing to come to an end, but sometimes certain aspects of life never end. There is a theme of alarm amongst the track. Cleverley, he includes a police siren which is audible for most of the intro which gives us a clear indication of what to expect with the release.
There is some trouble which JOSHUi speaks about in ‘Ends’. I am unsure what he is pointing his influence too, but he does talk vividly about how ‘man cannot die in the end’. He does also mention how anyone can get caught up in a trap and at the wrong side, possibly speaking about gangs? Either way, the track is very insightful and also exciting. Therefore, if you are looking for the finest in UK grime, look no further than ‘Ends’. It is getting a lot of attention, and many will argue that it is going to be around for quite some time.
